Las Chicas
I was honoured to be invited to dine as a guest at Las Chicas.
Las Chicas is a lively little cafe that's been around for a decade located next to Balaclava station. Their menu features breakfast and lunch dishes which use fresh, local and sustainable produce. The menu also offers Vegetarian, Vegan, Nut free, Dairy-free and Gluten free options.
THE BREAKFAST SMASH
Instead of avocado the poached egg sits on a bed of smashed peas. I could taste the freshness from the veggies as well as the eggs, which are sourced from Country Pride in Devon Meadows, one of the few farms that produces their own feed. The smoked salmon was mild in flavour. Overall a well-balanced dish however I avoided the chilli!
BUTTERMILK PANCAKES
The pancakes were quite standard, nothing extravagant. There is a good balance of fruit, syrup and ice cream.
The coffee was very deliciously brewed with St Ali beans. Service was efficient and staff frequently checked all areas of the cafe.
