Machi
I was honoured to be invited to dine as a guest at Machi.
We sampled some of the dishes that utilises Uni. Uni is the Japanese word for sea urchin and it has a bit of a pungenty flavour, it has become a favourite ingredient of mine lately but it can be quite pricey. The strong flavour means it’s not something to eat excessive amounts of. Machi sources fresh and high quality uni.
The Steamed Squid Ink Bao was so fluffy and filled with delicious crab meat topped with uni.
Some classic sashimi and the return of the nori taco. The food was consistent with my first visit. Fresh sashimi that melts in your mouth with a fatty flavour.
The Crab paella was the most interesting dish, cooking in the claypot with various seafood produced a rich flavour.
Machi is one of the Japanese restaurants in Melbourne that I can trust to use the freshest seafood for their dishes.
I rate this experience: 4/5
