Billy's Central
In recent years Billy's Central has popped up all over the state in various shopping centres kinda like The Coffee Club. The menu mimics the latest brunch trends offering hotcakes, french toasts, smashed avos with almost identical presentation, however the quality for each branch varies. I saw the French Toast in their instagram and just had to try it.
The toast was indeed soft and fluffy but lacking that eggy flavour, the banana was caramelised into a soft mush. There was an overall mild sweetness to the dish and the vanilla mascarpone helped down the toast with ease. The chocolate sauce was sweet and tasted more like the type you'd use on ice-cream, but not exactly nutella chocolate flavour.
While the French Toast looked undeniably good the flavours were not as rich as a smaller trendy cafe. Still a good option for areas without that special unique cafe.
I sometimes order their scrambled eggs on toast, with vegemite and butter on the side and it's always done well.
