The Parkstone Pancakes (carrot cake pancakes) stood out from the menu, deviating from the standard ricotta hotcake or buttermilk pancake cafe options. Freshly made upon ordering with a wait time of around 20mins, it was surprisingly still warm after several minutes of photos. The pancake exhibited flavours of cinnamon which is definitely a perfect pairing with carrot and banana slices sandwiched between the 2 pancakes, the texture was dense yet fluffy with coconut ice cream providing a refreshing contrast and added moisture to the dish. There was a melody of sweet and sour tones from the selection of seasonal fruits of pineapple, strawberries, rhubarb, blueberries and passion fruit.

My strong affinity to fried potato refused to allow me to turn away from choosing the common Waffled Benedict dish. The waffled hash brown base was fried well with distinct potato strands encased in a crunchy outer, I find this is where many cafes often fall short where it's sometimes under-cooked, seasoned with non-complementing spices, or too oily and soft. The maple glazed bacon had the right amount of fattiness with a delicious savoury and sweet flavour, and perched on top of it all, 2 perfectly poached eggs topped with apple cider hollandaise. A perfectly executed benedict dish.

Aside from the great food, the service was also friendly with customers being well looked after by wait staff as well as management - a big plus for local cafes.

PS. They are dog friendly and provide free biscuits!

I rate this experience: 4/5
