Shop 225 Pizzeria
Shop 225 is managed by the same team as Il Caminetto, however the menu differentiates with a bigger offering of vegan and gluten free pizzas.
Our choice of woodfire pizza this time was the Capricosa (just normal, not VGO of GF though). As expected the base was crispy with toasty flavour, topped with tomato, fior di latte (a semi soft fresh cheese), mushroom, ham, olives with addition of anchovies. The anchovies were delightfully salty, and made the pizza taste exceptionally strong.
The Calamaro Piccante consisted of calamari meat which was fresh and springy when cut open to reveal stuffing of breadcrumbs and ‘nduja which is a type of spicy spreadable pork salume, and served with potato and olive oil. Not really sure what to make of this unique dish, flavour-wise it was overall pretty spicy but with satisfying textures.
The Radicchio salad had rough pieces of red chicory (looks like red cabbage), orange, gorgonzola, cashew, baby fennel and a citrus flavour dressing. I enjoyed combining different ratios of the ingredients to create new flavours, especially trying to add as much gorgonzola with each bite to give a strong pungent taste, followed by a refreshing burst of citrus and creamy nuttiness from the cashews.
Although I knew homemade pastas would definitely taste better than store bought, the Homemade ravioli well and truly exceeded my expectations. Each beautifully cooked al dente parcel was filled with exceptionally flavoursome salmon meat and mascarpone, served with a creamy green peas and roasted tomato sauce. A very rich and creamy dish and certainly will not disappoint, I wanted to keep shovelling it down!
My experience here makes me confident that anything I order will be well executed and delicious. Again like Il Caminetto, it's very casual environment but with top quality Italian food.
